Cork is an interesting material for laser engraving. It comes in different shades and granularity. We find that the best results are achieved when using light colored cork that has a very fine grain. Cork is available in different pre-cut shapes as well as sheets. We do not suggest cutting shapes out of the cork sheets using the laser, because it leaves charred edges. Shapes need to be manually cut before or after engraving. Cork provides a wide range of shading and a level of detail that's directly related to the grain of the product. Cork is engraved on the front surface. Dark images on the graphic design turn the cork shades of brown when engraved.
